                                                         Minotaurs of the Mind

Minotaurs of the Mind is an ongoing project which explores the human condition. It considers the mind as our inner labyrinth through the creation of visual and conceptual analogies between psychological and emotional convolutions and the Cretan labyrinth. The monstrous Minotaur is symbolically multiplied and correlated with human traits such as evil, vanity, despair, and angst. The human body and its internal organs are sculpturally constructed to look fragmented, severed, distorted, or brutalised. Corruption of the physical body functions as metaphor for psychological and emotional violation and trauma, as well as for the fragmentation of the self. As the title suggests, Minotaurs of the Mind was primarily inspired by Greek Mythology and Sigmund Freud’s, Carl Jung’s, and Friedrich Nietzsche’s psychoanalytical and philosophical re-assessments of it.
